The SIMATIC S7-200 CPU 224 DC/DC/DC represents the most popular model in the S7-200 family, offering an excellent balance of performance, I/O capacity, and cost-effectiveness for medium-scale automation projects. This compact PLC provides 14 digital inputs and 10 digital outputs with integrated 24V DC power supply and high-speed transistor outputs. The CPU 224 features enhanced processing capabilities with 8KB program memory and 12KB data memory, supporting more complex control algorithms and larger applications. With 6 high-speed counters capable of reaching 30kHz and 2 high-speed pulse outputs, this controller is well-suited for positioning and motion control applications. The modular expandability allows connection of up to 7 expansion modules, enabling analog inputs, communication options, and additional digital I/O. Originally a market leader in compact PLCs, the CPU 224 was officially discontinued in October 2017 but continues to be available for legacy system maintenance.
